BMW announced the other day that they were shipping some cars temporarily with out Airplay or wtf the Android thing is. Temporarily, as their current software won't work with the new chips and they're busy porting it over.
From my little view on the world, and my little view into parts availability, I'd put a bit of money down that BMW is being forced to use 32-bit ARM chips where they were using 8-bit AVR style boards because no one wants to make 8-bit boards anymore.
@kemonine I do hope to see a junker BMW and discover it's just full of RISC chips.
